Cleaning Registry Backups in WindowsYour registry might contain information about your Windows surfing or computing activities that you simply don't want to share with others. Windows 95/98/Me create backup copies of the registry files (system.dat and user.dat in the C:\ Windows folder for Windows 95/98, plus classes.dat for Windows Me) each time the system boots. The backups are kept in the C:\WINDOWS\SYSBCKUP folder. Since these backup copies can contain information about Internet activity or other use of the computer, you might want to delete the information for privacy reasons when you're away from your system. The Registry backup copy feature in Acronis Privacy Expert Suite deletes the entire backup copy of the registry files. By following the directions on the help screen and rebooting your system, you can completely erase traces of activity contained in the registry backup copies. Remember, you have to reboot for the cleanup to take effect.
