Acronis True Image Home 10

Acronis True Image Home 10 is a great product that offers a perfect balance between performance and ease of use. We recommend it not only to IT specialists that need a plethora of options but to everyone that needs to backup their data.

Features List

The list of features offered is pretty impressive. Acronis True Image has everything from the basic save&restore image to advanced task scheduling, incremental and differential backups, execution of pre/post backup/restoration commands. One of the most impressive and useful features is the possibility to define file exclusions. You can clean-up your backups so they do not include the hibernation and virtual memory files or any temporary files. This will save you space and precious time. With Acronis True Image you can not only save your partitions but you can backup your Outlook database, application settings and documents.

Also you can easily create a boot disc that will come handy if your system fails for some reason.

Interface/Ease of Use

The interface is really simple and easy to use. Acronis True Image offers lots and lots of wizards that walk you through each step of your imaging tasks. All the wizards have visible Help buttons that you can press every time you need more information. On top of that everything feels very "Windows-like" and most people, even the least experienced, will get familiarized very quickly with how things work in Acronis True Image.

Backup/Restore Performance

The backup and restore procedures are pretty straightforward. For our test we made a backup of a 13.78GB partition with 6.44GB of used space. We set the compression rate and the backup/restore priority to the maximum level. The rest of the settings were the default ones.

Acronis True Image made a backup of our partition in 16 minutes and the backup size was 3.31GB. So the compression level was very close to 50% and the speed wasn't too bad.

The restore procedure of the backup took only 6 minutes.

The backups can be saved on almost everything. You can save them on FTP servers, Hard disk drives, Network storage devices, CD & DVD, USB drives and the list goes on.

We tried some of these storage devices and everything went smoothly. Of course, things are not as fast as storing your backups on your hard disk but Acronis True Image does its job well with each storage media.
